LYMPHEDEMA is an accumulation of lymphatic fluid that causes swelling in the arms and legs. Edema occurs when venous or lymphatic vessels or both are impaired. When the impairment is so great that the lymph fluid exceeds the lymphatic transport capacity, an abnormal amount of protein collects in the tissues of the extremity.

If this goes untreated, protein rich fluid will cause tissue channels to increase in size and number as well as reduce oxygen through the transport system. This culture medium for bacteria can result in various infections. A chronic inflammatory condition stemming from this accumulation of fluid eventually results in fibrosis(hardening) of the extremity tissues.

COMPRESSION THERAPY:

Sequential Circulator  "PUMP" are attached to a multi chamber compression garment. When the garment is placed over the affected area, each inner compartment of the garment inflates sequentially, causing the lymphatic fluid to circulate out of the affected limb, thereby reducing the swelling. This action helps restore natural lymphatic flow and restores the affected limb to a healthier condition. This procedure is done a few times a day for 30-60 minutes in the comfort of your own home.

BENEFITS OF COMPRESSION THERAPY:
Reduced swelling
Stabilizing of the condition
Normalized physical appearance
Improved range of motion
Assists healing of venous stasis ulcers

Prevents further deterioration of condition
